Challenge - Day 5
Transcript Below
Congratulations on making it to day five! You have set aside time everyday to take care of yourself. You have accomplished tasks to create calm and control.
Remember how you felt before this challenge?
How do you feel now?
Work-life balance takes time and effort, just like becoming a good worker and good mother. When we invest time and energy into ourselves, we don’t just become balanced--we actually become better workers, mothers, and selves.
If you are ready to continue working toward balance, I have a live round of my e-course about balance starting soon. In this course, I am going to walk you through planning for a year in a way that prioritizes your life ahead of your career. Instead of using a planner to plan for work, I am going to help you create systems, lists, schedules, and plans to take care of your mind, your loved ones, your home, and your health.
You’ll be able to work at your own pace. Each lesson will contain a brief video with a transcript, like this, followed by a task for you to complete when you have a few minutes to sit and think. Nothing to print. No worksheets. No quizzes. No discussion boards or anything academic. The course is a simple guide to make your life easier. Of course, there will also be a private masterminds group to also help encourage you along the way.
We feel unbalanced because we give work too much space in our minds and in our days. It is consuming. When you finish the balance e-course, your thoughts and days will become balanced. You will feel calm and confident. The steps you take will create this transformation. You will build a year and a lifestyle that is calm, in control, and focused on what you really need.
If you’re still on the fence, I’m also hosting a free webinar-style training next week about working mom mindset. Be sure to use the link in your email and below to sign up so you don’t miss it.
Today we’re talking about hobbies. By now, I know you’ve realized that we become unbalanced when we feel out of control. We get sucked into the overwhelm. It consumes us so much that we lose perspective. We lose our sense of control. It feels like all we do is work and mom.
A solution is to just stop and take a break. No, I don’t mean get a pedicure, watch NetFlix, have a glass of wine, or any similar superficial self-care things that pop into your mind. Hobbies help us on a deeper level. They do more than just distract us. Hobbies engage our body and mind; they pull us to be present.
Some of us become unbalanced and focus on work too much because we like to learn. We like challenges. We like to create. We like to grow. Hobbies fulfill this need in a low stakes environment. As we participate in hobbies, our confidence increases.
Your task today is to spend at least 20 minutes engaging in a hobby. A real hobby--not a passive pastime like watching a show. And, nothing related to your entire career field. If you’re drawing a blank, think back to activities you enjoyed as a child. Start there. And of course, feel free to share this hobby time with your kids if you feel like it.
Of course, I want you to post a picture of your hobby time in our community. Share how it went. Share how you feel now that this challenge is coming to a close.
Well, congratulations for finishing the first leg of your journey toward balance.
I have a super secret bonus for finishing this challenge.
Know that course I talked about? To thank you, I want to give you a handful of bonuses when you enroll—including, one-on-one support session and a free enrollment for you to give a friend. Fill out the form below to let me know you’re interested. I’ll email you first when I’m ready for enrollments.
I am so proud of you for coming this far. Work-life balance is possible. You are already building the confidence to control your world by focusing on what is really important to you.
You got this. I’m looking forward to continuing to see you grow!
